The Thurrock Nepalese/Gurkha Community (TNGC) extends a warm welcome
to all members, friends and well-wishers. We recognise that children
who grow up without an understanding of their cultural roots,
language, history and values may gradually feel disconnected from
their elders and their identity. Such a gap can weaken the bond with
their heritage and with the country from which their families
originate.
To address this, TNGC is
committed to cultivating a supportive and vibrant environment where
Nepalese culture and traditions can be preserved, practised and
handed down with pride. At the same time, we remain firmly aligned
with the values of the United Kingdom - a nation with which the
Gurkhas have shared more than 200 years of loyal and distinguished
service. Our community is proud to embrace both Nepali and British
cultures, contributing to the rich diversity that defines modern
Britain.
Established on 26 November
2006, the Thurrock Nepalese (Gurkha) Community was founded to
promote the welfare, wellbeing and integration of Gurkha/Nepalese
families residing in the Thurrock area of Essex. Our mission
includes safeguarding Nepalese language, customs and cultural
identity, while inspiring the younger generation to uphold the
celebrated Gurkha legacy of loyalty, bravery and service - qualities
that have earned lasting respect within the British Army and across
the United Kingdom for more than two centuries.
Through cultural events, community support
initiatives and educational activities, we strive to nurture
confident, responsible and proud individuals who value both their
Nepalese heritage and their British home.
We warmly invite you to join us in
this meaningful endeavour and to contribute to a community founded
on respect, heritage and unity - celebrating who we are, where we
come from and the country we are honoured to call home.
